HaloCare

A remote home-care monitoring business measuring its footprint, partly to answer the HSE's own Scope 3 questions.

The starting point

HaloCare provides remote monitoring for older people in their homes, which reduces hospital visits and community nurse callouts. The environmental case was intuitive and unmeasured.

For the HSE, HaloCare's service is a route to reducing their own Scope 3 emissions, which made the numbers worth having.

What we did

A full carbon footprint assessment covering Scopes 1, 2 and the relevant Scope 3 categories, analysing fuel, electricity, procurement and business travel.

We provided the data files, coaching for the team, and a narrative report written so it could be used internally and externally, including in conversations with the HSE.

Where it went

HaloCare now includes electricity, fuel and workforce data in board-level reporting.

The support from VisionGreen made this feel manageable. They didn't just hand us a report, they helped us understand the impact of our work and how to communicate it in a way that makes sense to our team and our partners.

An SEAI-funded energy audit is the usual first step, and the grant covers most of the cost.
